Welcome to my new website. For those who don’t know I’m Barrett Weyneth and this is where I will be jotting down (some of) my thoughts on life, liberty, and the pursuit of sporting excellence. I’m a 25 year old redhead kid from the suburbs of Boston (Sharon, MA: Home of the Eagles), trying to make my mark in the sports world via The Florida State University where I earned my Bachelors in Sport Management in 2009 and my Masters’ in Sport Administration in 2011.
I was born and raised in a small, Jewish town of 17,000 people called Sharon, Massachusetts which sits halfway between Boston and Providence. Sharon is my home and wearing the maroon and gold for the Eagles was some of the most fun and most rewarding times of my life. Whether it be on the baseball diamond, the soccer pitch, football field, basketball court or even that 400m oval on the outskirts of the playing fields I believe that “putting on for your city” and representing your town with class, commitment and desire is one of the best ways to be yourself and to have fun. Winning certainly makes it all better but we didn’t do enough of that during my time as an athlete.
Tallahassee, Florida is where I really grew up. The Florida State University is one of the best things to ever happen in my life, and I had the best and worst times of my life while in school in Tally. I am forever grateful for the opportunities that my higher education has provided me, whether that be the awesome friends I made in Smith Hall, Doak Campbell Stadium and the Donald L. Tucker Center (NoleZone baby) , my summer in London in 2008, or helping my roommate deal with the loss of his father too soon after suddenly losing my own. I also cannot express my gratitude enough to the family at GameTimeTravel for giving my first taste of working in the sport industry and helping me graduate. As the great T-Pain says “I’m still getting Tallahassee love and that’s all that matter” and I know that as long as I keep the network I have now I’ll be getting Tallahassee Love for the rest of the my life and that’s a very comforting thing. Go Noles!
This site is where I’ll be writing down many of my thoughts on current events in the sporting world including their effect on society and why you should care about them. If my old journal is any indication I’ll also be throwing in some of my own personal opinions on things that happening outside the sports world as I feel like it, so please bear with me if you have differing opinions on issues. I would love for this to be as interactive as possible and to hear my readers’ views on the topics I discuss so feel free to comment on the blog or if you would like email me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
I hope that you will enjoy reading this as much as I like writing and please feel free to let me know any questions/comments/concerns or suggestions that you have as you peruse the site.
Thanks for taking the time to check this out! Enjoy it and have fun!
